Every Colour Bass ID is insane.

thank you!!! buncha these will be releasing next year

I must finish the quadrilogy.
4 stars.

I really appreciate that this being a throwback track is not even in the slightest used as an excuse to slack on the sound design.
The bass archetypes are old-fashioned, but the textures are rich and crunchy with complexity, and the impacts are brutal.

Like the bass, like the melody, and overall I'm not sure if I'm forcing it - but I feel like this almost gives me Dimrain vibes, which kinda takes me back.

That being said, I think the track as a whole can feel a bit warbly and like it all blurs together, and I feel that's because there's not many moments where anything cuts through all the other sounds for a big definecd hit. That also leads to the buildup being a bit awkward. The risers go on for a little too long imo, and then when the drop starts it's a little weak comparatively speaking.

I think this would benefit a lot from adding some sidechaining on the drum hits. It can be tedious sometimes, but it's pretty important to making most genres of electronic music well. If you don't know what that's all about, there should be plenty of tutorials online about it.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, this will help me a lot, despite being a somewhat old song, I can improve many things, and I really appreciate your comment!!

OOOO, now this is more like it.
Obviously, peaking is still a problem, and it's more pronounced here - but I can tell it's somewhat an intentional decision. I'd still say pull it back a bit, but the sound design here is far more unique and exciting.
So much more movement, so crunchy, and I can't lie - that transition into the melodic half of the drop does go insanely hard.

ooo, I actually really like mixing the consistent low buzz with the highpassed lyrics and bells a lot.
Just for dubstep, I'd like to hear a little more movement in the basses during the drop.

Negatives:
- It's peaking a bit much - you could maybe get away with it more if it were peaking on quick and snappy hits, but it's on pretty consistently held synths.
- I think in the drops, for the pace, the drumbeat feels a little off just being a kick snare kick snare. A little more syncopation in the drumbeat might help.
- Bass Design here is very standard. In fairness, it does give a bit of a classic vibe - I just like to mix classic stuff with a bit of spicy stuff as well personally.

Positives:
- In fairness, the drums and their sidechaining do sound pretty good, ignoring the rhythm of the drumbeat itself
- The sense of scale is definitely there.
- The melodic elements work pretty well.
- All the impacts "hit right"

Amazing, loved everything about this one.

_except the asmr-ing I got from the jumping between ears >_<_

Don't think I've really heard anything like this one.
Aside from some vague Silent Hill vibes (not necessarily a bad thing) this really has an identity of its own.

Smh why's it called mud when it's clean asf? 😤

Definitely my favourite so far.

I make electronic music, dubstep mostly. I'm all about interesting sound design and synthesisers, and I talk about that more on my Youtube channel.
If you're wondering what's with the name, it's a portmanteau of "Technology" and "Paracosm".
